چکیده

results the duration of surgery and fetus delivery was significantly lower in ml than pk technique (p = 0.000). analgesic use during the post-operative period was significantly lower in ml than pk (p < 0.001). there were no significant statistical differences between the groups in regards to drop of the hematocrit (p = 0.32), fever (p = 0.056) and bowel transit time (p = 1.000). the mean apgar score of fifth minute was 8.80 ± 0.57 and 9.89 ± 0.42 in pk and ml groups, respectively (p < 0.001). conclusions misgav-ladach appears to be faster, requires shorter incision and less analgesic drugs than pk, which might lead to better postoperative outcomes. background cesarean section is one of the most common surgeries around the world. there are several different techniques for cesarean section. the most common techniques are pfannenstiel-kerr (pk) and the newer technique misgav-ladach (ml). the objective of this trial was to compare intraoperative and short-term postoperative outcomes between the pfannenstiel-kerr and the modified misgav-ladach techniques in primary cesarean deliveries. methods in a prospective controlled trial, 100 females were randomly assigned to the pk (n = 50) and ml (n = 50) groups. the two groups were compared in terms of duration of surgery and fetus delivery, blood transfusion, febrile morbidity, analgesic use, changes of hematocrit level, bowel transition time, wound infection /dehiscence and neonate five-minute apgar score.

The modified Misgav-Ladach versus the Pfannenstiel-Kerr technique for cesarean section: a randomized trial.

BACKGROUND Modifications to the classic cesarean section technique described by Pfannenstiel and Kerr have been proposed in the last few years. The objective of this trial was to compare intraoperative and short-term postoperative outcomes between the Pfannenstiel-Kerr and the modified Misgav-Ladach (MML) techniques for cesarean section. METHODS This prospective randomized trial involved 162 ...

Modified Misgav Ladach Method versus Pfannenstiel Kerr Method in Women with Previous Cesarean Section: a Randomized Controlled Trial

is 15%, ranging from 3.5% in Africa to 29.2% in Latin America and the Caribbean [2]. There is no universal surgical technique for cesarean section. The wide variation in surgical techniques in practice can be attributed to many factors namely the clinical situation and the preference of the surgeon [3]. Various abdominal incisions have been applied for cesarean delivery [3]. They include transv...

Misgav-Ladach cesarean section: general consideration.

Among obstetric techniques, cesarean section seemed to represent a well-defined procedure and significant advances in this intervention were considered to be unlikely. However, obstetric surgery has recently undergone many improvements. In 1972, Joel-Cohen presented a new method for transverse incision of the abdomen. This method, with some modifications, was integrated into the Misgav-Ladach c...

Maternal and Fetal Effect of Misgav Ladach Cesarean Section in Nigerian Women: A Randomized Control Study

BACKGROUND The poor utilisation of the Misgav-Ladach (ML) caesarean section method in our environment despite its proven advantage has been attributed to several factors including its non-evaluation. A well designed and conducted trial is needed to provide evidence to convince clinician of its advantage over Pfannenstiel based methods. AIM To evaluate the outcome of ML based caesarean section...

Baricity of Bupivacaine on Maternal Hemodynamics after Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Section: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: After spinal anesthesia, patients undergoing cesarean section are more likely to develop hemodynamic changes. The baricity of local anesthetic has an important role on spinal blockade effects. The aim of this study was to compare the isobar and hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% plus fentanyl on maternal hemodynamics after spinal anesthesia for C/S.Methods: In this double-blind study, 84 h...
